Ngā mihi o te wa ki a koutou katoa.
Whakarewarewa School is a small school of 72 students nestled in the Redwood forest and bordered by Whakarewarewa thermal area.
A unique aspect of this kura is that it's physically sited amidst four marae - Te Pakira at Wahiao and Apumoana, Te Hurunga ki te Rangi and Hinemihi in Ngāpuna. This matters because to nurture potential is also to nurture and respect identity. This kura is certainly the loveliest place tucked away safely in a corner of Rotorua.
Our mission is to provide the ultimate learning environment that promotes our school and community values and beliefs: mana/pride, manaaki/respect, aroha/empathy and te tika me te pono/honesty and truth.
This is made easier in that we have a committed and conscientious staff who are supported by a dedicated, forward thinking Board of Trustees. We are honoured to have all children and we owe them that ultimate learning environment.
My role is to support, encourage, enthuse and professionally develop kaiako to construct quality learning possibilities to improve student achievement. This year we have focussed heavily on our strategic goals in literacy and numeracy to lay sound foundations for language and number competency. This will continue in years to come and be enhanced as we aim for our vision: to be the best school in Rotorua where all tamariki are nurtured to reach their potential.
Children learn and experience success when the school and the whānau work together. We welcome new children and whānau and look forward to developing positive relationships. We are continuously improving processes to help our students be independent and autonomous thinkers and life-long learners.
It's all a team effort and we have big plans for the future.
