Kia u ki te Pai

Kia harikoa te Ako

E ngā reo, e ngā mana, tēnā koutou katoa.

Tēnā koutou i raro i ngā manaakitanga o te runga rawa. Nau mai ki tō tātou nei kura. Ko tētahi wahi e whai ake ana i te mātauranga i roto i to tātou reo Māori, ko tetahi whai ka whai i nga tikanga maturanga i roto i te reo Pākehā. Ko ngā taitamariki e whai atu rātou i te mātauranga i roto i ngā reo e rua.

Kia ora and a very warm welcome to Whakarewarewa School, your kura.

As parents and whānau, there are important decisions to make with regard to the education pathway of your tama/hine. Whakarewarewa School offers two pathways of learning - Te Rumaki or Te Auraki.

  • Te Rumaki is a total immersion Māori pathway from year 1 - 6.
  • Te Auraki is an English immersion pathway for year 1 - 8 students.

Both pathways follow the New Zealand Curriculum which provides the guidelines for eight curriculum areas at all levels of schooling.

Being Māori is highly valued here so te reo Māori, spiritual, traditional values and beliefs permeate all aspects of the learning culture of Whakarewarewa School. Kaupapa Māori me ōna tikanga are the values that underpin core components of planning and delivery. This provides opportunities for positive learning outcomes and ensures a bright future for ourselves - Te Iwi Māori.
